applicants.Staff Software Engineer - WebAssemblyThe WebAssembly
team is focused on the technology that powers Fastly's Compute
platform - an advanced serverless platform built on open standards
which runs on our global edge network. It's designed to address the
requirements of modern application development by empowering
customers to run code in a highly secure execution environment with
microsecond cold start times, at scale, on the edge.What You'll
Do:Coordinate and communicate seamlessly with the team members and
across other technical and product teamsContribute to code reviews,
improving the codebase and other team processesManage projects from
a technical lead role driving project progress and communicating
project status to stakeholdersWhile we work in multiple programming
languages, a large portion of our tooling is in RustYour day to day
area of focus will vary, depending on project need and skills. The
general areas you may work on areThe Wasmtime runtime
environmentCompilers (such as TinyGo or Cranelift)Working with open
source communities, such as the Bytecode Alliance or the W3C
WebAssembly Working Group to design and implement new standards for
WebAssemblyLanguage runtimes for Wasm (such as StarlingMonkey, or
the Python runtime)What We're Looking For:You have a minimum of 7
years of Software Engineering experience with at least 3 years of
experience with systems-level programming, such as programming
languages, compilers, runtimes, or operating systemsA willingness
to dive into and learn bleeding-edge and developing
technologiesWe'll be super impressed if you have experience in any
of these: (Optional)Research experienceTechnical leadership
experience in open source communitiesExperience with Rust and
GoExperience with C or C+ Work Hours:This position will require you
to be available during core business hours and occasional nights
and weekends are required for on-call support.Work Location(s) &
Travel Requirements:This position is open to both hybrid and remote
work locations.The preferred hybrid locations for this position
are:San Francisco, CANew York City, NYDenver, COFastly currently
embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows
employees flexibility to split their time between the office and
home.We are also willing to consider remote candidates in the
United States.This position may require travel as required by your

position is $195,720.00 to 244,645.Starting salary may vary based
on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience,
skills, qualifications, and location.This role may be eligible to
participate in Fastly's equity and discretionary bonus
